In 2003, Carolina Ballet Theatre Artistic Director Hernan Justo and guitarist/composer Russ Corvey began a collaboration that resulted in the creation of a full-length ballet - Indigo City. Having disbanded the year before the popular group of the same name, Indigo City now became Russ and Hernan's title for a story of discovery - discovery of a new world, a new life and a new love.

Featuring principal dancers from world renowned ballet companies such as the Washington Ballet, The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, and South Carolina's own Carolina Ballet Theatre, Indigo City has been staged four times since 2003, with additional material added each year. Featuring 12 original songs by Russ Corvey, the ballet is staged with a live contemporay jazz combo on stage and is presented in two acts with a cast of more than 20 dancers.
